Seafarers UK have launched a ‘Fly the Red Ensign for Merchant Navy Day’ campaign which Branches and Shipmates may wish to participate in on 3 September.
With the support of the Merchant Navy Association and the Federation of Merchant Marines, Seafarers UK is promoting the campaign to 11,500 local councils this year. But it’s not just councils that they want to take part. Any association or organisation that wishes to get involved will be welcomed – the more the merrier!
As Merchant Navy Day this year falls on a Sunday, the day of the MNA’s National Service at Tower Hill, they are encouraging local civic flag hoisting ceremonies and events to be held on the preceding Friday, with Red Ensigns flying over the whole weekend.
