Seven of us arrived on a misty Sunday morning at Old Buckenham airfield to experience the Sim-Fly flight simulator; following the introductions and briefing over cups of coffee and tea it was time to get acquainted with the system. The main scenario was based around Norwich airport and once the the aircraft was off the ground we took it in turns to undertake various manoeuvres before leaving it to Gus to bring the aircraft back to terra firma (without crashing I would like to add!)
We were then let loose on the main sim, with the majority of us starting with the Spitfire. The more adventurous of us also attempted the English Electric Lightning, Avro Vulcan, de Havilland Mosquito and BAE Systems Hawk.
Moving on from Sim-Fly, we moved onto St. Georges Distillery with a tour specifically for Veterans, conducted by Mark Rundle (Ex Royal Marines).
The tour was most educational showing the different processes of distilling whisky, highlighting the success of St. Georges Distillery.
